I purchased this globe as a gift for my boyfriend. For our use, the base is stable; to rotate on the second axis needs a slight tug, but it can be done. I love the look of it. The bright blue is really an attention-grabber by all who come over. The mountain ranges are also raised for you to get a better idea of their locations. The reason why I selected "Poor Construction" as a con was because the equator is just a blue line stuck on the globe itself. It looks like the type of thing that would begin to separate after some time. It hasn't done so yet and we've had it about a month now. It just gives you that appearance like it's a strip of adhesive placed around the globe. Nonetheless, it brings us fun times and really doesn't take anything away from the globe. We now play games to see who could find various countries faster! I think it was worth the money.
