We bought this globe to replace a similar 16inch globe from around 1980 vintage--before the fall of the Iron Curtain, the breakup of the USSR, and the breakup of Yugoslavia. The new globe is up-to-date with new countries and addionally has improved features like mountain ranges now shown in relief.We are soon departing on an extended trip to the Eastern Mediterrean, the Black Sea, and the Adiadric Sea and find the globe very useful.
Our previous globe was mounted on a tripod stand and very stable; the just purchased globe is on an unstable single leg stand. Fortunately we were able to remount on the old stand.
I highly recommend the Antique 16" globe but only with a more substantial stand.
