A group of chemists from the Colorado section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) recently toured the Victor Gold Mine in Victor, Colorado. Animated discussions on our van ride back to Denver concluded that Tim Brown, our host and the Exploration Manager of the Victor Mine, deserved much more that a simple thank-you for his generous sharing of information and frank discussions of all aspects of his mine's operation. As a token of appreciation, Mr. Brown can now view our planet in miniature as it rotates soundlessly on his desk in apparent defiance of the natural laws he devotes his life to studying. Dr. Don Stedman suggested this "uber-geek" gift called a "Mova-globe", as he had recently received one as a much-appreciated gift.
The suggestion was instantly seconded by his graduate-assistant at DU, Kellen Sorauf. Look for it on Tim's desk when the Colorado ACS offers this tour again in the future! He tells us that all visitors to his office now comment and hurry off to research the operating principles behind this amazing little globe.

Bought this to go on an engraved pedestal as an award. Had the award shop drill the lucite base and bolt to award pedestal (where some sort of trophy would usually go). Came out great. Far nicer than usual boring trophy. Its great fun to watch and the recipient thought it was awesome.

The globes purchased (2) were given as gifts to two of my grandchildren - ages 9 & 11. They are educational as well as being entertaining, and the rotation is as real as viewing the earth from outer space. Their parents love them as much as the kids. GREAT PRODUCT ! 01/07/10 Bill C.
