My library's Friends group purchased this as a completion door prize for a 6-week-long family reading program. On the second week, we brought the globe out, dimmed the lights, and lit the globe. Oooohs came from everybody! We had a choice for the same price of either an illuminated globe or a globe with US states boundaries. We went for the oooh factor. Country boundaries are on this globe, as well as pictures of products and animals, capitals and major cities, so it is still educational. It's very colorful and definitely kid-friendly.

It's a great product. I bought this as a gift for my newborn niece: it's never too early to start thinking about the Earth! The pictures are colorful. It looks nice in the baby's room, and works well as a night light.

My son received the globe as a Christmas present from his grandmother. The design has peaked the interest of my son. The pictures of people, animals and places of interest allows my son to learn some research strategies. When we read a book about an animal he can go to the globe and look for an animal by himself and learn where it is instead of me pointing it out. He also enjoys that the globe lights up.
